INDIANA, Pa. –
Ally Burrows scored a season-high seven goals and helped the 25th-ranked IUP women's lacrosse team to its third straight victory with a 19-8 win over visiting Gannon Wednesday afternoon at George P. Miller Stadium.
The 19 goals by the Crimson Hawks also tied a season-best as they improved to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
Burrows now has two of the seven highest goal-scoring games in the PSAC this season, also scoring six goals back in February. The game brought her season total to 42, the third most in the league.
Burrows was one of nine Crimson Hawks to score a goal and one of 11 to tally a point on the afternoon. Six had multi-point games, including
Kayte Zeiler with three goals and two assists,
Shannon Hartigan with two goals and two assists, and
Lauren Robinson with a goal and a team-best three assists.
All three IUP goalies saw action in the net, with
Carly Mansur getting seven saves in a little over 37 minutes.
The Crimson Hawks scored the first nine goals of the afternoon with Burrows responsible for four scores. She went back-to-back twice with mini scoring bursts, scoring 11 seconds apart five minutes into the game and then 14 seconds apart 10 minutes later.
Gannon (2-9, 0-6 PSAC) scored twice at the end of the half again to start the second, but the Crimson Hawks went on a 6-1 run to make it a running clock at 15-4 with 23:30 left in the game. Each team scored four more times with Burrows capping the game with her seventh with a minute to play.
