IUP Women’s Lacrosse bounces back with 19-6 win at Edinboro

EDINBORO, Pa. – Ally Burrows scored six goals and IUP used a big first half en route to a dominant 19-6 road victory over Edinboro Tuesday afternoon.

The Crimson Hawks outscored Edinboro 13-2 in the first half to cruise to victory, improving to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.

All 13 first half goals came after the Fighting Scots (1-9, 1-5 PSAC) took an early 2-0 lead resulting in a timeout from IUP head coach Brenna Gallagher. Just over one minute after that stoppage in play, Burrows scored the first of IUP nine goals over a short 5:31 time frame as the Crimson Hawks grabbed control and put the game away before the midway point of the half.

The Crimson Hawks added four more goals in the half and the clock became continuously running before the break.

Burrows scored five of her six goals in the first half, including three over a 1:03 period. Her sixth came on a free position early in the second half to post her second 6-goal game of the season.

She was one of nine players to net a goal Tuesday, with multi-goal games also coming from Adriana Greco and Shannon Hartigan with three each and Katie Martyn with two.

The Crimson Hawks forced Edinboro in 18 turnovers and tallied 16 draw controls. Martyn tied a season-high with 12 draws.
