Crimson Hawks take down No. 9 East Stroudsburg 12-10

INDIANA, Pa. – Adriana Greco scored two of IUP's three goals over the last eight minutes as the Crimson Hawks shutout ninth-ranked East Stroudsburg in crunch time to secure the 12-10 upset victory Saturday afternoon at Miller Stadium.

Greco scored a team-best three times on the afternoon and was one of eight Crimson Hawks with a goal as IUP used offensive balance and defense for the huge victory.

IUP evened its overall record at 5-5 on the year and now has a 3-3 mark in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play. It was its first win over a top-10 opponent since 2016 (Mercyhurst, No. 5).

It was the first conference loss of the season for the Warriors, who are now 9-3 overall and 6-1 in the league.

Greco was one of three players with multiple goals, with Katie Martyn and Shannon Hartigan each adding two scores. Hartigan added a career-high four assists for six points. Also netting goals were Victoria Kerkovich, Kayte Zeiler, Ally Burrows, Leah Hunter and Chloe Borland.

Freshman Carly Mansur had her finest performance of the season in the net for the Crimson Hawks, posting a season-high 15 saves while holding the high-scoring Warriors to just 10 goals.

The Crimson Hawks also forced ESU into 21 turnovers, the most by any IUP opponent this season. ESU All-American Krista Mitarotonda was limited to one goal on two shots as Gianna Piocquidio marked her the entire game.

The game was back-and-forth in the first half with both teams trading goals for the first 30 minutes. The Warriors went into the break with a 6-5 lead after scoring with 1:45 to go.

The Crimson Hawks grabbed the first real momentum of the game with three straight goals to start the second half, with Martyn, Hunter and Hartigan giving IUP an 8-6 lead with 21:09 to play.

ESU came back with three straight goals of its own to retake the lead at 9-8, but Chloe Borland quickly answered to tie the game with over 12 minutes left.

After the Warriors took a 10-9 lead with 10:32 on the clock, IUP took control with two goals by Greco and an insurance score by Martyn with 3:25 to play.

ESU had six shots over the final 10 minutes with Mansur coming up with four saves. Her biggest came on an ESU free position attempt with 2:02 left and IUP leading by two. The Crimson Hawks followed with a successful clear attempt that all but clinched the upset win.
