INDIANA, Pa. – Ten IUP swimmers had qualifying times Friday night as the Crimson Hawks hosted the first session of the annual Pidgeon Memorial Invitational at the Pidgeon Natatorium. IUP competed with Lock Haven and Bloomsburg.
Paige Mikesell posted a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying time in the 200 IM, touching the wall in 2:10.70. It was also IUP's only first place finish of the night.
Rachel Johnson also hit a PSAC time in the 200 IM and was one of five other IUP women with qualifying marks. Johnson finished third with a time of 2:16.15.
Kaylee Kassa finished with a time of 5:27.40 in the 500 freestyle, while
Gabrielle Gironda (25.63),
Emma Winchell (25.73) and
Michelle Lopes (25.77) hit times in the 50 free.
Three IUP men had PSAC times in the 500 free, including Ryan Hartman at 4:59.35,
Gerard Morato at 5:01.57 and
Kyle Mowid at 5:01.98.
Taylor Auger posted a time of 2:02.88 in the 200 IM.
Tonight was the first of three sessions in the weekend invitational. The weekend continues with session two Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with the third session starting at 4 p.m.
IUP swimming will also celebrate Senior Day Saturday at 3:30 p.m. prior to the final session.
