YORK, Pa. - IUP sophomore
Paige Mikesell continued her momentum from day one with another school record on the second day of the 2020 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Swimming Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center.
Mikesell took home the individual title in the 100 yard butterfly, breaking
Jackie Hynson's eight-year old record in the event with a time of 54.09 seconds. Hynson held the IUP record since the 2012 NCAA Championships with a time of 55.69.
Mikesell's time was also an NCAA B standard. Through two days at the PSAC Championships, Mikesell has three titles, including two individual, and three NCAA B standard marks.
Amber Baldani also hit an NCAA B standard Thursday, finishing second in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.28. It was the second time she tallied a B standard on that stroke in as many days, as she posted a time of 1:52.70 during her leg of the 800 free relay Wednesday.
IUP had two other medalist finishes on day two, including
Rachel Johnson in the women's 400 yard IM and
Jackson Woolard in the men's 400 yard IM. They both finished third in their respective finals races, with Johnson swimming a 4:31.97 while Woolard touched the wall in 4:04.07.
The IUP women's 400 yard medley relay finished second with a time of 3:47.34.
Team scores
The IUP women moved up one spot in the team standings, jumping Bloomsburg to move into second place with 633 points. West Chester leads with 843.5 with Bloomsburg in third at 522.
The IUP men remain sixth after two days with 158 points. West Chester leads the way with 415 with Bloomsburg right behind in second with 406 points.
