YORK, Pa. – The IUP women's swimming team finished second out of 12 teams at the 2020 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Swimming Championships, which wrapped up Saturday night at the Graham Aquatic Center.
The Crimson Hawks finished with 1,139.5 points during the four-day championships in York. They trailed champion West Chester by 575 points, IUP's smallest gap from the overall lead since finishing 403 points back of the Golden Rams – under a different scoring system – in 2014.
IUP had five top-8 individual finishes Saturday along with a fourth place relay finish.
Sophomore
Paige Mikesell wrapped up a very successful PSAC Championships with a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 51.22 seconds. It was her fourth NCAA B standard of the weekend in addition to earning an NCAA A standard.
Mikesell was also named the PSAC Women's Most Outstanding Swimmer for the championships.
Amber Baldani set an IUP freshman record in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:04.12 in the prelims. She ended up finishing second in the finals with a time of 2:04.30.
Rachel Johnson earned an NCAA B standard time in the 200 yard breaststroke at 2:18.77. She finished third in the event.
Paige McCullough finished seventh in the 200 breast and
Colleen Como was eighth in the 1650 yard freestyle.
The women's 400 yard freestyle relay finished fourth.
IUP men finish sixth
On the men's side, the Crimson Hawks finished sixth overall out of seven teams. IUP tallied 255 points during the championships, with leader West Chester finishing with 830.
IUP had two top-8 finishes on the final day, with
Taylor Auger coming in fourth in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:51.63.
Jackson Woolard was eighth in the 1650 free with a time of 16:26.12.

For those selected to compete, the 2020 NCAA Division II Championships takes place March 11-14 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
