NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio – IUP women's tennis wrapped up its perfect weekend in Ohio with a second win as the Crimson Hawks took down Oberlin 7-0 Sunday afternoon.
The win was the third straight overall for IUP, which improved to 5-1 on the year including 3-1 this spring. The Hawks also defeated Case Western Reserve 5-4 Saturday.
Playing the doubles results as one point, the Hawks took two of three matches with wins coming at the Nos. 1 and 3 spots.
Katya Minchenkova and
Idoia Huerta picked up the 6-3 win over Isabelle Olaes and Delaney Black at the top spot.
IUP then swept through singles play with six straight two-set wins, with
Thais Andreotti getting it started with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 4 spot. Also earning wins were
Joanna Stralka at No. 1, Minchenkova at No. 2, Huerta at No. 3,
Julia Newman at No. 5 and
Laura Dunarova at No. 6.
Up next
The Crimson Hawks return to action next week with a trip to Orlando, Florida for four matches. Action get started Sunday, March 8 against Navy.
