CARY, N.C. – The IUP baseball team dropped a pair of games to conference foe West Chester as the two teams met up at the National Training Center in Cary, North Carolina Saturday. The Crimson Hawks lost by scores of 11-3 and 5-3.
Nick Hess went 3-for-6 at the plate with a pair of RBIs and a run scored while
Alex Thornberry went 2-for-3 in game two.
Austin Mueller blasted a solo home run in game two and scored a pair of runs.
Mueller's homer came with one out in the sixth inning to cut West Chester's leads to 5-2. In the seventh,
Elijah Glass led off with a single and three batters later scored from third on an infield error. The rally ended there with a strike out and the tying run at the plate.

This was the first day of competition for the Crimson Hawks in North Carolina. They'll play a single nine inning game against Frostburg State tomorrow at 1 p.m.
