INDIANA, Pa. - The IUP women's volleyball team bounced back in a big way Tuesday night with a four-set home victory over visiting Seton Hill at the Kovalchick Complex.
Four Crimson Hawks posted double-figures in kills, including
Nicole Peterson with a team-best 16 kills. Peterson posted her seventh double-double of the year, adding 10 digs and two block assists.
Stefania Anagnostou came off the bench to tally 14 kills on 20 attacks and two block assists,
Caroline Walsh had 12 kills on 20 attacks and three block assists, and
Kylie Osborn had 11 kills on 19 attacks with four total blocks.
Those four combined to hit .437 on the night as the team hit .278.
Leah Henderson dished out 49 assists, tying her season-high for a four-set match. She added a pair of kills and 14 digs.
Bailey Flowerdew had 22 digs.
The Crimson Hawks evened their overall record at 12-12 and improved to 3-6 in the PSAC West. Seton Hiil fell to 9-11 and 2-7.
This was the third meeting between these two schools this year, with the Griffins winning the previous meetings in four and five sets, both in Greensburg.
Seton Hill grabbed the early lead with a 25-23 win in the opening set. IUP bounced back with a 25-17 win in the second, followed by victories of 25-22 and 25-23 to clinch the match.
In the deciding set, IUP held an early lead at 4-1 but SHU battled back several times, eventually taking a 12-10 lead with four straight points. The Hawks jumped back on top 14-13 and later used a four-point run to go up 18-15. Seton Hill brought it back to a one-point set at 22-21 and then again at 24-23, but a kill by Peterson ended the night.
