ERIE, Pa. - The Crimson Hawks kept the Gannon offense in-check, but couldn't come away with a road win as IUP women's volleyball dropped a three-setter to the Lady Knights Friday night at the Hammermill Center.
IUP limited the PSAC's top-hitting team to a .184 percentage on the night, with the Hawks totaling 11 blocks over three sets.
Brooke Little had eight block assists while middles
Caroline Walsh and Kyle Osborn each had a solo block and four assists.
Little also had a team-best 13 points with nine kills and those eight block assists.
Stefania Anagnostou tallied her first double-double of the year with 10 kills and 11 digs, and
Nicole Peterson added eight kills.
Leah Henderson had 28 assists.
IUP got out to an early 6-2 lead in the first set, but the Lady Knights responded with five straight points to take a lead. The Hawks battled back to grab the lead several times, including 18-15 after a kill by Anagnostou. But again GU came back to score six of the next seven points and four of the final five to win the set 25-21. The Knights followed with wins of 25-20 and 25-17.
The loss drops the Crimson Hawks to 12-13 overall and 3-7 in the PSAC West. Gannon improved to 20-4 and 7-2 in the division.
