ERIE, Pa. – The Crimson Hawks were on a 2-game win streak before falling to Mercyhurst Saturday evening.
Cloe Thoericht's early second-half goal in the 47th minute knotted up the score at 1-1. But it was all Lakers for the remainder of the match, as they tacked on two more goals to outlast the Hawks 3-1. Sophomore midfielder Samantha Nemeth assisted the goal for IUP.
The Hawks fell to 4-4-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the PSAC West.
Mercyhurst (6-3-1, 5-2-1) attempted 25 total shots throughout match, 10 of which challenged Crimson Hawks goalie
Samantha Gildner, who was successful in fending off seven. IUP managed to tally up four shots on goal, coming from Thoericht (1), Nemeth (1), and
Hannah Scardina (2).

The Crimson Hawks return home next week for two divisional matches. The Hawks will play Clarion on Wednesday at 4 p.m. and their second meeting of the season with Cal U on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Both matches are scheduled to be played at South Campus Field.
