INDIANA, Pa. - The IUP field hockey program celebrated Senior Day on Sunday at Miller Stadium, while falling to visiting and No. 1-ranked Shippensburg 5-0.
Prior to the start of the game, IUP honored 2021 seniors
Lizzi Clemmer,
Georgiana Chiavacci,
Hannah Miller,
Mashayla Valentine, and
Abby Shimock, along with 2020 senior
Juliette Sauter.
The Crimson Hawks (9-5, 3-5 PSAC) played tough defensively in the first quarter, limiting Shippensburg chances with goalie
Amanda Zaner saving four shots to keep the game scoreless. The Raiders got on the board with two goals less than a minute apart in the second quarter, adding another in the third and two more in the fourth.
Zaner finished with 11 saves. The Raiders held advantages of 23-5 in shots and 16-8 in penalty corners.

The Hawks enter the final week of the regular season in a three-way tie for the sixth and final spot for the PSAC tournament. With its 3-5 league record, IUP is tied with Mansfield and Slippery Rock for that final spot with two games left. IUP will play at Mercyhurst (1-14, 1-7) Wednesday and will host Kutztown (11-4, 5-3) on Saturday night.
