INDIANA, Pa. - For the second straight day the IUP women's volleyball team defeated a team ahead of them in the standings as the Crimson Hawks took down division-leading Edinboro in four sets Saturday on Senior Day at the Kovalchick Complex.
The Hawks won the first set 25-22 and lost the second 25-21, but rallied to pick up wins of 25-17 and 26-24. IUP improved to 14-13 overall and 5-7 in the PSAC West with the victory, coming within two games of the fourth spot in the divisional standings with two weeks left to play.
The Crimson Hawks also defeated Mercyhurst Friday night, which was on a 6-match win streak entering the weekend. IUP has now won three of its last four.
Brooke Little led the Hawks in points with 12.5, posting a team-best 12 kills on 28 attacks.
Nicole Peterson had 11 kills on 20 attacks and
Leah Henderson had 37 assists, 15 digs, and three aces.
IUP held one of the top offensive teams in the conference to a .135 hitting percentage, with the Fighting Scots hitting less than .100 in the third and fourth sets.
Prior to the match the Crimson Hawks honored the careers of four seniors -
Lexi Hraga,
Gia Cannavino,
Kylie Osborn and
Jaden Fuller.

The Crimson Hawks have their final non-conference match of the season Tuesday night at Salem in West Virginia. They'll play at Cal U Friday and Slippery Rock Saturday.
