INDIANA, Pa. - Nicole Peterson had 18 kills and totaled 20 points but the IUP women's volleyball team couldn't push past Cal U Saturday afternoon in a four-set loss to the Vulcans at the Kovalchick Complex.
Peterson hit .333 for the match and had her sixth double-double of the season with 12 digs.
The Crimson Hawks fell to 11-10 overall with the loss, including 2-4 in PSAC West play. The Vulcans improved to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the league.
IUP opened strong in the first set, holding off a late Cal U surge to win 25-23 and grab an early lead. The Vulcans came back with wins of 25-20 and 25-14 in the second and third sets, before clinching the match with an exciting 26-24 fourth set victory.
Kylie Osborn finished with 10 points on seven kills, two blocks and an ace. She hit .636 for the match with no errors.
Caroline Walsh was second on the team with eight kills while
Gia Cannavino had seven kills.
Leah Henderson, who was honored prior to serve for becoming the seventh player in program history with 1000 career assists, dished out a team-high 20 on Saturday.
