Brownlee stars as Crimson Hawks officially welcome back diving

INDIANA, Pa. - Diver Allison Brownlee set a program record and qualified for the NCAA championships as the IUP swimming & diving teams had a successful Saturday in a dual against Saint Vincent.

Brownlee, a grad transfer from Delta State, scored 418.85 points in the 1 meter diving event, the most by any diver in program history. That point total also qualified Brownlee for the 2022 NCAA Division II Championships in Greensboro, N.C. next March. She's believed to be the first IUP women's diver to qualify for the NCAA championships.

Saturday marked the official return of diving to the program. IUP discontinued men's and women's diving in the mid-1990s due to facility safety concerns. It briefly made a return in the 2006-07 season under then-first year head coach Chris Villa, but the specialty did not last the full season. This season marks the first time in 15 years that IUP is fielding competitive divers with today's meet their first competition.

Joining Brownlee on the board Saturday morning was sophomore Jordyn Burkey and freshman Allie McKinney. Burkey scored 297.65 while McKinney scored 142.10.

After the morning dive, IUP swimmers combined to win 24 of the 25 events. Those winners included:
