INDIANA, Pa. – The early season success of the IUP women's soccer team took a hit on Saturday as the 14th-ranked Crimson Hawks lost to Edinboro by a score of 2-0 at South Campus Field.
It was the first loss of the young season for the Crimson Hawks, who are now 2-1 overall and 1-1 in divisional play. Edinboro, which entered the game receiving votes in the national top-25, is now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the division.
The Fighting Scots outshot IUP 21 to 11 on the day, including a 13-4 second half advantage. Edinboro opened the scoring in the 34th minute and added an insurance goal in the 86th.
Alayna Ryan had four total shots, including three on goal, and
Samantha Gildner had six saves in the net.

The Crimson Hawks go back to non-conference action Wednesday with a home match against Salem. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
