MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Crimson Hawks' season-opening win streak came to an end on Saturday with a 2-0 loss to No. 6 Millersville on the road.
This was IUP's first loss of the season, falling to 5-1 overall. It was also the conference opener for both squads. The Crimson Hawks' five wins to start the season was the best since the 2008 squad opened the year 13-0.
The two teams played to a scoreless tie through 30 minutes of action, with IUP outshooting the Marauders 7-6 with both teams tallying six penalty corners.
Millersville (8-0, 1-0) turned up the heat in the second half, getting on the board seven minutes into the third quarter to break the tie. The Marauders made it a two-goal differential with an early fourth quarter score, as they outshot IUP 10-2 with six penalty corners in the second half.
Georgiana Chiavacci was IUP's main s hot taker Saturday, tallying three shots, including two on goal.
