INDIANA, Pa. - The Crimson Hawks opened the week in positive fashion with a three-set home sweep of Salem in a non-conference match at the Memorial Field House Tuesday evening.
IUP dominated from the outset, posting scores of 25-8, 25-5 and 25-21 to improve to 9-8 overall. The Hawks had 43 kills and hit .313 while totaling 17 service aces over the three sets.
IUP's top-scorer on the evening was
Lexi Hraga with 13.0 points, including a career-high eight aces. Those eight aces are tied for the fifth most by a Division II player this season and are the most by an IUP player since Alyssa Prince had 12 against Cheyney in 2008.
Brooke Little had a team-best nine kills on 14 attacks in two sets and
Gia Cannavino had six kills in one set of action. Hraga,
Caroline Walsh, and
Ali St. Rose each had five kills.
Maggie Samijlenko received the bulk of the playing time at setter, totaling 19 assists and 10 digs, both team-highs.

The Crimson Hawks get back to divisional play this weekend with a pair of road matches at Edinboro Friday and Mercyhurst Saturday.
