INDIANA, Pa. - Nicole Peterson had 14 kills in a four-set win over Tusculum as the IUP women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on the first day of its home invitational Friday at the Kovalchick Complex.
The Crimson Hawks took the opening two sets by scores of 25-21 and 26-24, dropped the third 25-22, and wrapped up the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth.
Grace Mangapora added 10 kills to help an offense that hit .274 in the day's first match.
Hannah Simmons had 22 assists and
Leah Henderson dished out 20 with three aces.
The IUP offense didn't see the same production in the evening match with the Hawks falling to Ohio Dominican in three sets by scores of 25-22, 35-33, and 25-22.
IUP hit .083 with Mangapora tallying a team-best seven kills while hitting .300. Henderson had 16 assists and
Bailey Flowerdew tallied 18 digs.
Now 2-1 on the young season, the Crimson Hawks host Frostburg State and Shepherd on the final day of the IUP Invitational Saturday.
