INDIANA, Pa. - Sophomore forward
Hannah Scardina scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute, capping a second half comeback and lifting the 14th-ranked IUP women's soccer program to a 2-1 win over Cal U Wednesday night.
The Crimson Hawks improved to 2-0 in the early going, with this win coming in the divisional opener.
After trailing by a goal at the half, the Hawks evened the score in the 66th minute when
Kristen Finnerty found the net off a pass from Scardina. Six minutes later, Scardina took a pass at midfield from goalie
Samantha Gildner and beat defenders down field to score the game-winner.
The Vulcans had two more scoring chances down the stretch but the IUP defense put a stop to both, including a save by Gildner in the 89th minute. She ended the night with four saves.
