INDIANA, Pa. – IUP swimming & diving returned to the pool with a dual meet victory against Edinboro on Friday night at Pidgeon Natatorium.
IUP won the men's dual by a score of 164-60, while the women's team was victorious by a 143-87 count.
Allison Brownlee and
Nicholas Roddy set school records and NCAA B cut marks to highlight an impressive evening.
Brownlee's B cut came in the 1 meter 6 dive with a 263.45, while Roddy added an NCAA B Cut mark in the 1 meter 6 dive with a 304.20. In total, IUP notched 25 PSAC standards with 13 for the men's team and 12 for the women against the Fighting Scots.
Paige Mikesell,
Rachel Johnson and Brownlee each logged two wins individually for the Crimson Hawks, which once again showcased depth in all areas of the poll. For the men,
Athanasios Diamantidis,
Luke Mikesell,
Thomas McGillan and Roddy posted two individual victories apiece.
Tonight, we got to see all of the hard work the athletes have put in pay off," IUP head coach
Chris Villa said. "They have been very dedicated in the swimming pool and especially in the weight room. Our strength coach, Mitch Zajicek, has been working them hard and it really showed against Edinboro."
Mikesell earned first in the 100 fly (56.47) and 200 free (1:56.44) with Johnson adding first-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:12.38) and 100 breast (1:05.13). Brownlee once again dazzled on the diving board with her two victories for the IUP women.
On the men's side, Diamantidis was first in the 200 IM (2:00.55) and 100 breast (59.10). Mikesell touched the wall first in the distance events, logging a 4:51.03 in the 500 free and a 10:26.31 in the 1,000 free. McGillan raced to wins in the 50 free (21.19) and 100 free (47.53) with Roddy adding two wins in the dives.
Erin Moyer and
Jordan Crupie also earned first-place finishes, coming in the 500 free and 100 back, respectively. Moyer added second in the 200 IM for the IUP women.
Blake Hendricks and
Alexander Roth notched first in the 200 free and 100 back for the Crimson Hawk men.
The IUP relay teams were again impressive, winning six of eight relay events.
