INDIANA, Pa. – In a tightly-contested matchup, eighth-ranked IUP fired home a late tally with under one minute remaining in regulation for an exciting 3-2 victory against Frostburg State on Wednesday at Miller Stadium.
 
IUP (8-5) bounced back in the first of two home games this week with a 15-11 edge in shots. Frostburg State (7-9) knotted the score in the 38th minute before the Crimson Hawks struck late.
 
Blaise Cugini finished off a feed from 
Cara Betancourt along the left side, breaking a 2-2 tie and pushing IUP in front for good. In what was an otherwise back-and-forth matchup, 
Shelby Harnish opened the scoring with a pass from Betancourt. 
 
Amanda Zaner had three saves, including some timely stops in a close contest.
 
Calir Murphy had a chance for IUP just under five minutes in before the Bobcats countered with a chance about one minute later. Harnish posted her fifth goal of the season for a 1-0 advantage just over nine minutes in.
 
 
Frostburg netted the equalizer as Paige Leitzel recorded the lone tally of the second quarter. The Crimson Hawks took back momentum in the third quarter as Cugini netted her first of two markers, finishing off a pass from Harnish.
 
Just about two minutes later, Frostburg State had a response with Macy Layfield evening the score at two. The game seemed destined for overtime, but IUP found the net late off a quick restart. Playing the ball along the right side, Betancourt fired a pass to the left post that Cugini redirected for the 3-2 edge.
 
 
Jess Davidson and Cugini had four shots each.
