FROSTBURG, Md. – IUP field hockey, which moved up to sixth in the DII NFHCA Coaches Poll during the contest, notched a 3-1 victory on Tuesday against Lindenwood at Frostburg's Bobcat Stadium.

IUP (6-2) moved up one spot in the latest rankings, released October 4, and found the back of the net in each of the final three quarters for the victory. Lindenwood (5-5) avoided the shutout with a goal in the final 30 seconds of the contest.

Shelby Harnish scored twice for IUP with
Jess Davidson recording a goal and two assists. Harnish and Davidson accounted for every IUP point scored in the victory, while
Amanda Zaner made one stop between the pipes.

Lindenwood drew the initial two penalty corners of the game in the opening quarter before Harnish registered the first shot of the contest, forcing a save from Kyla Cooke.

In the second, Harnish had another chance swept away with a defensive save from Allie Hosto. About five minutes later, Harnish broke the scoreless tie with her third goal of the season for a 1-0 IUP advantage.

Zaner stayed square to an Izzy Folan shot early in the second half, keeping IUP in front. Davidson found Harnish again for the second time at the 40:12 mark of the contest, doubling the IUP lead at 2-0. Davidson had a scoring chance of her own late in the third quarter with Cooke stepping in for the save.

With just about eight minutes remaining, Davidson registered her team-leading sixth goal of the season. It provided IUP with all the momentum, leading 3-0, before the Lions broke through with a late tally with under 30 seconds remaining.

Tuesday marked the second trip to the mountains of Frostburg in as many weeks for IUP. Zaner recorded her sixth victory in goal for IUP, which went nearly 125 minutes of game action between goals.
