Game one
Starter
Bella Bucy kept Cal U off the scoreboard through the first five innings, setting the Vulcans down in order in the second and third innings. She got out of a jam in the fifth, overcoming a double and wild pitch to record three outs before the Vulcans could bring a runner across.Â
Cal U was able to get on the board in the sixth, utilizing a walk, wild pitch, double and single to score twice. The Vulcans added insurance runs in the seventh, scoring on a single and wild pitch to take a 4-0 lead.
The Hawks stranded five runners over the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.Â
Game two
Cal U scored early with four runs on four hits in the first inning. The Hawks got one back in the bottom half when
Jenna Rhue singled up the middle to score
Paige Truax.
The Vulcans added a run in the second and IUP put runners on in the third and fifth but couldn't bring any across. In the sixth Truax used her speed to beat out an infield single and then moved into scoring position on a wild pitch.
Renee Wall followed with a single to left field, bringing Truax home to make it a 5-2 game. IUP put a runner on in the seventh but a pair of strikeouts and a ground out ended any kind of threat.
