Crimson Hawks drop 1-0 decision to Seton Hill

INDIANA, Pa. – IUP women's soccer fell short in an evenly-played PSAC West contest on Wednesday afternoon as Seton Hill emerged victorious following a second half goal in a 1-0 decision at South Campus Field.

Jessica Malatoris gathered a bouncing ball off a corner kick for Seton Hill (6-1-3, 4-1-3) before booting the ball inside the right post for the lone tally of the day. Mikayla Moyer played the looping ball into traffic, which Malatoris eventually settled and scored.

IUP (2-2-4, 2-2-4) had several quality runs but struggled to connect despite a high work rate. Both teams registered six shots on the day with IUP holding the narrow 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. Samantha Gildner made a pair of saves for IUP, while her counterpart Grace Kenyon collected four stops for the Griffins.

Aislinn Meaney paced IUP on the offensive end with a game-high three shots and two coming on target.

Each side traded early chances with Meaney sending a chance just over the crossbar before Seton Hill's Victoria Rothrauff ripped a chance into the arms of Gildner in the ninth minute.

The Crimson Hawks worked for a pair of corner kicks near the midway portion of the first half, but were unable to capitalize. Madison Carr sent a shot wide for the Griffins in the 34th minute, accounting for the final scoring chance of the first half.

Meaney opened the second half with a quick chance, this one coming shortly after a corner kick in the 51st minute. Just about eight minutes later, Meaney registered another low shot that Kenyon smothered to keep the game scoreless.

Molitoris broke through off a corner kick in the 61st minute for a 1-0 SHU lead. Cassidy Zandier lifted the potential equalizer just high in the 63rd minute for IUP, following by a chance from Sami Nemeth in the 73rd minute.

Nemeth and Hannah Scardina accounted for the final two chances for the hosts before SHU kept play in the attacking half over the final few minutes.
