CARLISLE, Pa. – The IUP swimming team dropped a dual matchup with Bloomsburg on Friday afternoon in the opening day of the Pidgeon Memorial Invitational, held at the Keystone Aquatics Center.
IUP fell on the men's side by a final of 123-80, while the 23rd-ranked women's squad dropped the dual by a count of 123-80. Overall, IUP collected seven individual event wins with three of relay wins.
Paige Mikesell was part of three total victories, including the 200 IM (2:04.59) and 50 fly (25.47). She joined
Amber Baldani,
Erin Moyer and
Rachel Johnson for first in the 200 medley relay to open the meet with a 1:47.26, later leading off the 400 medley relay with Baldani, Johnson and
Rachel Blackburn for a final time of 3:34.54.
Ryan Hartmann tallied a pair of wins and two second-place finishes on the afternoon. Hartmann held on for a victory in the men's 50 free, touching the wall in 23.27. He was second in the 200 IM (1:56.69), and helped IUP get off to a strong start in the 200 medley relay with
Alexander Roth,
Athanasios Diamantidis and
Thomas McGillan.
Johnson and Moyer finished consecutively in the women's 50 free. Johnson notched first in 29.29 with Moyer finishing closely behind 30.88.
Emma McCombs was second behind Mikesell in the 200 free, picking up points for the Hawks with a time of 2:12.33.
McGillan notched first in the 50 free, racing to a 21.17.
Luke Mikesell added a first-place finish in the grueling 500 free (4:45.95). IUP had four of the top five finishers in the women's 500 free, led by
Olivia Santee's 5:13.71 winning time.
