INDIANA, Pa. – IUP women's soccer fell 1-0 despite a late charge into the second half on Wednesday against a hungry Seton Hill side at South Campus Field.
Samantha Hallo notched the game's only tally with a shot that squeaked past the goal line following a bounce along the bottom of the crossbar in the 65th minute. With some confusion on the field, the goal was confirmed as Seton Hill (6-7-1, 5-6-1) broke the scoreless tie.
Vanessa Berlin posted six saves for IUP (4-8-3, 3-8-2), which entered the week as one of five teams contending for the final playoff spot in the PSAC West.
Julia Csernyik paced the Hawks with four shots moving into a midfield role with
Kristen Finnerty and
Taylor Serrano adding one shot apiece.
Lindsey Pazdziorko posted two saves for the Griffins, which held serve over a frantic final stretch as the Hawks attempted to push forward offensively.
Csernyik recorded two of her shots in the second half, including one off a set piece, while Finnerty had the final chance for the hosts in the 88th minute.
