Named the number four seed in the 2023 NCAA DII Atlantic Region Volleyball Tournament, the Crimson Hawks take on Pitt-Johnstown on Thursday at Gannon's Highmark Events center. Making the NCAA Tournament for a second consecutive season, the Crimson Hawks will face Pitt-Johnstown for a third time on Thursday.
Lauren Valentic was named the PSAC West defensive Athlete of the Year and an All-PSAC West First Team selection, joining
Nyla Birch as a First Team honoree.

IUP fell short to eventual PSAC runners-up Clarion in the quarterfinal round on November 14, marking over two full weeks between matches for the Crimson Hawks. IUP leads NCAA DII in total team blocks (315.0) and ranks fourth nationally in blocks/set (2.69).

M/W TRACK & FIELD
December 1-2

The IUP men's and women's indoor track & field team opens the 2023-24 season this week at the Bison Opener, hosted on December 1-2 at Bucknell's Gerhard Fieldhouse. It marks one of just two events ahead of the new year for the Crimson Hawks track & field team, closing out the 2023 portion of the schedule next week at Susquehanna on December 9.

Returning to action this week for the first time since November 18, the IUP women's basketball program begins PSAC crossover play with road matchups at Shippensburg and Lock Haven this weekend. The Hawks got back on the right track with a resounding 95-76 road victory at Goldey-Beacom in an all-around performance.

Rahmena Henderson was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week on November 20, averaging 16.6 points, five rebounds and 2.3 steals across a three-game span for the Crimson Hawks.
Kiera Baughman racked up a season-high 22 points against GBC, one of five Hawks in double figures during the victory.

Teirra Preston registered her eighth career double-double last time out for IUP and is tied for the team lead in steals (11). The Hawks will not be home until another round of PSAC crossover play against Mansfield and Bloomsburg on December 18-19.

Hitting the road for the first time this season, the IUP men's basketball program begins the crossover portion of PSAC play this weekend at Shippensburg on December 1 and Lock Haven on December 2. IUP took control down the stretch of a 75-58 win last time out against Frostburg State on November 26 as part of the 2023 IRMC Thanksgiving Classic.

Ethan Porterfield posted over 20 points in each of the Crimson Hawks' games last weekend at the KCAC. He racked up a game-high 21 points with seven rebounds against the Bobcats, while
Dallis Dillard registered 17 points, seven rebounds and a career-high seven assists on November 26. The Hawks held a big advantage on the boards against Frostburg State and racked up 23 fast break points to snap an uncharacteristic two-game losing slide.

IUP swimming & diving welcomes Gannon for its first conference dual meet of the season on Saturday. The Crimson Hawks posted multiple school records and NCAA B Cur t standards at the Magnus Cup from November 16-18.

The Hawks have had a pair of PSAC Swimmers of the Week in
Luke Mikesell (November 7) and
Kasha Stokes (November 21) through the opening semester of the season. Stokes set a pair of school records at the Magnus Cup, hosted by Cleveland State. She opened the weekend with a school record in the 100 back (55.82) on November 17 and followed it up with her second school record in the prelims of the 200 back, posting fourth overall in 2:01.08, an NCAA B standard.

Athanasios Diamantidis posted a pair of school records at the Magnus Cup a second-place finish in the 200 breast (1:57.37), also an NCAA B standard. Diamantids swam to a school record mark of 54.25 in the 100 breast on November 17.

After Saturday, the Hawks host one more event against Clarion/Frostburg State on December 9 before breaking for the new year.
