GREENSBURG, Pa. – IUP women's tennis fell short to NCAA DI Bucknell, falling 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
Bucknell (7-6) took the doubles point and picked up the narrow victory with three wins in the tightly-contested singles portion of the matchup. The number three doubles duo of
Laura Dunarova and
Katy Graydon posted a 6-0 victory against Kate Novak and Mirra Manolov.
In singles action,
Natalie Kmoskova,
Lydia Vlachou and
Idoia Huerta recorded triumphs for the Hawks.
Kmoskova battled for a 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles against Anna Lajos. Vlachou held on for a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles, while Huerta responded back after dropping the first set for a 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 victory at No. 6 singles.
Joanna Stralka dropped a marathon three-set matchup at No. 2 singles against Tyne Miller, tying the match up with a 7-5 win in the second set, ultimately dropping a hard-fought 17-15 third set.
