CLERMONT, Fla. – The Indiana University of Pennsylvania softball program spun its third shutout gem of the week in a six-inning, 8-0 victory over AIC but then suffered the same fate as the Huskies blanked Indiana (PA) in the tenth and final contest of the Spring Games by a 7-0 tally.
Â
Tori Long improved her record to 2-1 on the season, pitching her first career shutout and complete game with three strikeouts while allowing just seven baserunners (5 hits, 2 walks).
Â
Jordan Sylvia ended the ballgame with her lone hit versus the Yellow Jackets, a two-RBI double in the bottom of the sixth to enact the mercy rule, the only extra-base hit for IUP on the afternoon.
Â
Jess Cekada lifted a sacrifice fly for her lone RBI, singling and scoring as well in game two, and
Paige Truax scored three times on top of two stolen bases plus a walk.
Â
Five student-athletes logged at least one base hit versus American International while three other players reached safely courtesy of bases on balls.
Â
Bella Bucy was spectacular both in the circle and the batter's box, tossing 4.1 innings of two-run work in the nightcap with five Huskies whiffs to go along with a 3-for-5 (.600), scoring a run and driving one home too.
Â
The Crimson Hawks will end its long 17-game road/neutral swing to begin the year when it hosts Slippery Rock on Tuesday at both 2 and 4 p.m. for their Home and PSAC Opener.
