KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Indiana University of Pennsylvania baseball program had a difficult time getting the offense going in a 10-2 loss during game one but flipped the scripts with a dominant 9-2 game two victory to split the road doubleheader with the Golden Bears.
Â
Paul Tripi played the role of an opener to perfection, pitching a clean first four innings with the only blemish being a single walk opposed to a pair of Ks while
Cooper Baxter capped off the win in three-up, three-down fashion in the seventh.
Â
Colton Burd must have had a form of double vision as both of his base hits went for two bases to go along with a walk and a score.
Â
Brady Yard thinks three is the magic number, as in hits that is, going 3-for-4 in the nightcap with a two-bagger and two runs scored.
Â
Au'sean Owens was the only Crimson Hawk with a multi-RBI outing as it was a well-balanced attack in the triumph, notching two ribbies on two singles and a score on top of stealing second.
Â
Harrison Pontoli combined to hit .429 (3-of-7) on the day, reaching five times in total and logging a pair of doubles plus a run batted in.
Â
A four-game series awaits with The Rock of Slippery Rock, starting in the Hawks Nest on Friday at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. before traveling to SRU for a doubleheader with first pitch times remaining unchanged.
