SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Indiana University of Pennsylvania softball program fell into an offensive funk on the afternoon, dropping both of its games against the Setters, 2-1 in eight and 7-0.
Delaney Patella scored the Crimson Hawks' lone run of the doubleheader in the third inning of game one, scampering home after the catcher threw the ball into center field trying to catch Jess Cekada stealing. Patella also stole a bag herself.
Amanda Fischer did her job in the circle, not allowing a single earned run over an eight-inning, complete game masterpiece that saw her pick up the tough luck loss due to a pair of unearned runs on five hits to go along with four strikeouts.
Tess Smiley stole second base twice in the nightcap, going 2-for-3 at the plate to account for 67% of the club's hits, both singles.
Paige Truax, Alyssa Schmidt, Jaycee Haidze, and Patella recorded base knocks as well.
IUP's next stop will be Clermont, Florida for its annual spring break trip beginning at 2 and 4 p.m. versus Southern Connecticut State then Lock Haven in exactly one week.
