Softball Stays Mired In Offensive Slump, Drops Doubleheader At Gannon

Brian Baublitz Jr.

ERIE, Pa. – The Indiana University of Pennsylvania softball program has hit a offensive wall as of late, failing to score more than four runs for the seventh consecutive time in a pair of setbacks at Gannon, 1-0 and 12-3.

The Hawks only had seven total hits and just two in game one but both of the base knocks in the opener went for extras as well as one of the nightcap's tally.

Bella Bucy fell victim to a lack of run support yet again, holding the Knights hostage with five hits and zero walks plus four strikeouts but allowed the game's lone run to get the undeserved, complete game loss.

Jordan Sylvia and Madison Pikula pitched in with triples while Delaney Patella went for a double.

Sylvia had one of the club's three RBIs, scored a run, and walked.

Pikula scored once and Patella drew a trio of free passes as she remained enemy number one on foes' radars.

Sara Tailford was the only Indiana (PA) student-athlete with a multi-hit day, clubbing a pair of one-baggers in the first tilt.

Jaycee Haidze and Alyssa Schmidt both registered a walk plus a ribbie with the former singling as well.

IUP will need to wait until Tuesday to stop the bleeding when it hosts CUP (California-PA) in a doubleheader at 2/4 p.m. inside Ruth Podbielski Field.
