INDIANA, Pa. – Former IUP football standout linebacker Damon Lloyd recently signed with the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League (USFL).
Lloyd continues his professional football career after three years with the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad, signing with the Bolts in 2021.
He reunites with IUP teammate Dondrea Tillman, a two-time All-PSAC selection for the Crimson Hawks. Tillman was drafted in the third round of the 2022 USFL Draft, recording 11 tackles and three sacks this season for the Stallions.
Lloyd was a three-year starter at linebacker for the Crimson Hawks, helping the program to three NCAA playoff appearances, a national semifinal appearance and a conference title. Lloyd earned All-American honors in both 2017 and 2019, while also being named a Cliff Harris Award finalist and the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year as a senior after posting 122 tackles.
Birmingham is currently 7-2 overall, clinching a playoff berth in the USFL South Division. The Stallions square off against the Memphis Showboats on Saturday, June 17. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on FOX.
