AUSTIN, Texas – IUP men's golfer
Shaun Fedor was named to the first team of the 2022-23 Academic All-America® Men's At-Large teams as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Wednesday.
The prestigious award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined academic and athletic prowess. Academic All-District® selections, which require a cumulative GPA of 3.5 as a starter or significant reserve with one full year at their respective institutions, are eligible for Academic All-America® consideration.
Fedor owned a 3.95 cumulative GPA at the time of nomination, majoring in business administration. The Lancaster, Pa. native has earned multiple academic awards over the course of 2022-23, recognized as the PSAC Champion Scholar last October.
He becomes the second student-athlete to earn Academic All-American honors for the IUP golf program, previously won twice by Zach Kempa in 2012-13 and 2013-14.
Fedor, a four-time All-PSAC honoree, was recently named to the PSAC Spring Top 10 in June. He's a three-time all-region honoree, finishing second on the team with a scoring average of 74.47 in 2022-23.
Fedor finished tied for third at the 2023 PSAC Championships in October before carding a one-under 71 in the opening round of the 2023 NCAA National Championships at Avalon Lakes. Ranking fifth in program history in career scoring average (75.09) since 2007, Fedor is slated for a return to the IUP men's golf program for a fifth year in 2023-24.
The Division II at-large teams honored 47 student-athletes, with the 15 members of the first team compiling a 3.96 cumulative GPA. That included three with 4.0 GPA's among a total of six on the three teams. The At-Large team is comprised of members from the following NCAA men's sports: fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Division II Academic All-America® program.
