AUSTIN, Texas – IUP linebacker
Drew DiNunzio-Biss earned another postseason honor this week, named to the 2023 Academic All-America® football teams as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
DiNunzio-Biss is one of just three linebackers in the country and one of two student-athletes from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) to earn first team honors. The 26 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.83, with the entire 52-man team holding a collective average GPA of 3.81.
Named a CSC Academic All-District selection back in December, DiNunzio-Biss boasts a 3.95 cumulative GPA (3.94 at the time of nominations) in safety, health & environmental applied science. The Vandergrift, Pa. native was named a Don Hansen All-America Honorable Mention selection, one of several accolades for a strong 2023 season.
DiNunzio-Biss earned D2CCA All-Super Region One Second Team honors, along with All-PSAC West First Team laurels (2022, 2023) in the middle of the IUP defense. DiNunzio-Biss finished 2023 with 94 tackles, 16 TFLs, 5.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and two PBUs.
For his career, the standout posted 214 total stops and three double-figure tackle games in 2023.
The 2023 Academic All-America® Football teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
