California, Pa. -- The IUP women's soccer team (5-0-1, 4-0-1 PSAC) remained unbeaten with a 1-0 victory over California (Pa.).
The Crimson Hawks started out strong, scoring the only goal of the game just 20 minutes into play.
Hannah Scardina, a dominant forward, tallied her fourth goal of the season thanks to assists from fellow forwards
Kristen Finnerty and
Avery Clanton.
The Crimson Hawks' strong defense limited the Vulcans to five shots with only one being on goal, stopped by goalkeeper,
Makenna Yarrow. Yarrow and the IUP defense have continually clamped down on opponents in 2024, extending the team's shutout streak to 532 consecutive minutes with tonight's shutout victory. IUP surrendered a goal eight minutes into the season opener at Frostburg State and since then has not allowed another goal by an opponent.
With this crucial win over the Vulcans, the Crimson Hawks have advanced to the top spot in the PSAC West Division.
