INDIANA, Pa. – IUP (17-8, 7-4) earned a 3-0 sweep over Slippery Rock (11-12, 4-7) Friday night at the KCAC. Set scores were 25-18, 25-19, and 25-19.
Following the match, IUP honored seven members of the 2025 senior class.
Freshman
Jessica Neiman had a standout performance, leading the team with 13 kills.
Rylee Brown chipped in with two,
Lauren Valentic added three,
Simay Memisoglu contributed five, and Concannon posted six.
Each Valentic and
Olivia Heidel contributed four kills, Brown had five, and Memisoglu recorded three.
The beginning of the first set was a fair trade until IUP went on a five-point run, capitalizing off Slippery Rock's errors. A key six-point run, highlighted by two kills from Valentic and two aces from Memisoglu, helped IUP clinch the first set 25-18. A big block by Valentic and Heidel sealed the set for the Hawks.
The second set was tightly contested until IUP pulled away with a kill from
Olivia Heidel that gave the Hawks a 17-13 lead. IUP pushed ahead to 23-16, and despite a brief three-point run from SRU, IUP closed the set with a service ace from Neiman to win 25-19.
IUP jumped out to an early third set 17-7 lead until Slippery Rock shortened the gap to just five points. IUP finished the match strong with three key kills to seal the final set 25-19.
