SANDUSKY, Ohio – IUP women's tennis made short work of Ferris State on Saturday afternoon in Ohio, clinching a 4-0 victory after winning the doubles point and rolling to three singles wins. The victory marked the first dual match win at IUP for head coach Andy McGlashen.
After dropping a narrow decision last weekend in the team's return to action, IUP (1-1) continued to shake off the rust during Saturday's win. IUP clinched the doubles point with
Veronica Sirci and
Hannah Beitat closing out a 6-1 victory the No. 3 flight.
Lydia Vlachou and
Katy Graydon continued rolling as a doubles pairing, locking down a 7-6 victory at the No. 2 slot. The duo have won five consecutive doubles matches since the fall, moving to 8-1 on the season.
The win marked the 72nd career doubles win for Graydon and the 58th for Vlachou in doubles action, as the duo continues to climb up the IUP record book. In singles play,
Ming Deewajee cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Morgan Waller.
Dani Ramos notched a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the No. 2 singles flight, setting the table for
Hannah Beitat at the No. 6 spot to close out the match for IUP. She did just that, posting a 6-4, 6-2 victory for the team's first dual match win of the spring semester.
Up Next IUP is back at it tomorrow, playing in a Super Bowl Sunday matchup against Walsh in Ohio. First serve is slated for 5:00 p.m.
