GREENSBURG, Pa. – The IUP women's tennis program posted its third shutout in a row, winning a dual match by a 7-0 count against Ashland on Saturday afternoon at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
IUP (3-1) claimed the doubles point, picking up wins in two of the three flights.
Ming Deewajee and
Dani Ramos rolled to a 6-3 victory at the No. 1 slot before
Veronica Sirci and
Hannah Beitat handed IUP a 1-0 lead with a 6-4 win.
Sirci slotted up to the No. 4 singles flight and zoomed past Constanza Arancibia for a 6-1, 6-2 for a 2-0 advantage. It set the table for the rest of the singles list with IUP rolling to two-set victories across the board.
Katy Graydon anchored the lineup at the No. 1 singles spot with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
Lydia Vlachou followed suit at the No. 2 singles flight, knocking off Kortney Reed for a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Ramos handled Ana Penteado with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Beitat picked up the most convincing singles victory of the afternoon for the Hawks with a 6-0, 6-1 decision.
Lina Teleshun rounded out the IUP lineup with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.
