DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The No. 48 IUP women's tennis team opened its grueling stretch of action on its spring break trip on Saturday, falling to No. 23 Embry-Riddle by a 4-0 count.
The Crimson Hawks slip to 4-3 in dual match play this season, while Emory-Riddle improves to 8-2 on the season.
Katy Graydon and
Lydia Vlachou continued their success at No. 2 doubles, picking up a 6-4 win. It marks the 10th win of the season for the duo, moving to 8-2 overall in their last 10 matches as a pairing.
Emory-Riddle claimed the doubles point despite a hard-fought 7-5 setback at No. 3 doubles by
Veronica Sirci and
Hannah Beitat.
The Eagles carried the success over to singles action, winning in the two, three and four flights to secure the 4-0 victory.
Ming Deewajee fell 6-1, 6-0 to Laura Ceuta Bret before Vlachou dropped a 6-1, 6-3 matchup against Jessica Wira Hadipoe.
Graydon was in the process of battling back after dropping her first set, climbing back to tie the second set at five in an unfinished match. Sirci and Beitat were also ahead in the second set when ERAU clinched the match. '
