Key fourth quarter stretch propels Seton Hill past IUP women’s lacrosse

INDIANA, Pa. – Skylar Orlowski netted a pair of slick insurance tallies in the fourth quarter, providing Seton Hill just enough separation in a 13-11 setback for the Crimson Hawks on Wednesday afternoon at a cloudy Miller Stadium.

IUP slips to 4-7 and 3-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West with the setback, the fourth straight for the Crimson Hawks. Seton Hill improves to 7-4 and 5-1 in the PSAC West.

An intense game that featured a combined 40 turnovers, Seton Hill was able to counterpunch throughout the day. Orlowski had two great individual efforts on goals at 5:56 and 4:43 in the fourth quarter, pushing the Griffins ahead 13-10.

Chantal Jimenez racked up five goals, eight draw controls, three ground balls and six turnovers for IUP. Leah Moyer had a breakout performance with three goals, matching her season-best scoring output set in the opener against Georgian Court. Brenna Whiteside added a goal and assist, while Rachel Knight and Alexi Crosby posted a pair of caused turnovers each.

The Hawks held a 33-27 edge in shots, committing 21 turnovers on the game. A choppy pace at times, a total of 15 cards were administered between the two sides. IUP pulled ahead at 5-4 on a Macenzie Haragos marker, her 16th of the season in the second quarter at 12:55.

SHU closed the half with four unanswered goals, a hole the Hawks could not climb out of. Consecutive goals for IUP from Maggie Kilgallon and Jimenez sliced the IUP deficit to 11-10 with over eight minutes remaining.

Jimenez rounded out the scoring with a free position tally with just over two minutes left. IUP had a last gasp effort with around one minute remaining, unable to chip away any further.

Allison Hathaway posted 11 saves in goal for SHU, while Maddy Schramm recorded eight stops for the Hawks.
