IUP women’s tennis runs winning streak to six; blanks Edinboro on Monday

INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP women's tennis team logged its sixth straight win and fourth consecutive shutout with a convincing 7-0 home win against Edinboro on Monday afternoon at the Maple Street Courts.
 
With the win, IUP moved to 10-8 and keeps its perfect Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record intact at 5-0. Edinboro drops to 5-11 and 0-2 in league play.
 
Katy Graydon moved into the top 10 in career singles wins (65), while Lydia Vlachou surpassed 125 combined career victories on Monday for the Hawks. The duo continue to elevate in the program record books, continuing an accomplished set of collegiate careers.
 
The Crimson Hawks swept the doubles point once again with Graydon and Vlachou setting the tone following a 6-0 decision at the No. 2 flight. Hannah Beitat and Veronica Sirci nabbed their fifth consecutive doubles win, securing the point for IUP with a 6-0 victory.
 
Ming Deewajee and Dani Ramos battled for a hard-earned 7-5 doubles win against the duo of Johanna Priedite and Cecilia Carayol.
 
In singles play, Lina Teleshun won her match via opponent retirement. Hannah Beitat logged her 32nd combined victory of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 5 singles. Vlachou clinched the match for the Hawks with a 6-0, 6-3 win at the No. 4 singles flight.
 
Ramos, Graydon and Deewajee all followed suit with singles victories for IUP, clinching yet another shutout victories for the Hawks.
