INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP men's and women's swimming teams combined for six student-athletes selected to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team, released by the organization on Tuesday.
For the men,
Luke Mikesell (criminology),
Nicholas Roddy (psychology) and
Chris Scoboria (special education PreK-12) were named all-district honorees. The women's team also had three academic all-district selections in
Jordyn Burkey (early childhood/special education),
Parker Fanella (nursing) and
Olivia Santee (criminology).
To qualify for the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and compete in at least four competitions in 2023-24.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Swimming teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's and women's swimming & diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Information related to GPAs and academic majors were pulled following the fall 2023 semester. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 24, 2024.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
Swimming is now in its second year as its own sport for CSC Academic All-District® and All-America® honors in 2024, previously part of the At-Large category lumped in with several other sports.
