INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP football program will put a bow on its spring practices on Friday night, hosting the annual spring game at Miller Stadium. Kickoff is set for around 6:05 p.m.
The game is free and open to the public. IUP has been working through spring drills over the last few weeks, with spring ball beginning in late March. There will be no live video or stats coverage for the spring game.
Putting a fun twist on the game, the IUP roster was split up and drafted into two different teams. Some players will be able to play for both teams depending on personnel and formational situations, while others will not participate in the game due to injury.
The offense will be in white practice jerseys (QBs in black no-contact uniforms), while the defense will wear crimson practice uniforms. Some numbers may not line up with the 2024 spring football roster.
IUP head coach
Paul Tortorella, who boasts a 54-16 (.771) record at the helm of the Crimson Hawks, is excited to simulate a game-like environment on Friday.
"The spring game is an opportunity for some younger players to show us if they are ready to contribute next season," Tortorella said. "It's also an important showcase for some of the veteran players who may be battling for starting spots to develop under game-like situations."
