CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The IUP women's tennis team did not drop a decision, continuing a strong stretch of play throughout the lineup with a 7-0 road shutout of California (Pa.) on Tuesday at Roadman Park.
IUP gets back to .500 at 8-8 overall, improving to 3-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). California slips to 6-10 and 1-1 in the division. The win marks the seventh straight for the Crimson Hawks against the Vulcans.
The Hawks surrendered just one set in doubles play.
Veronica Sirci and
Hannah Beitat opened the day with a 6-0 win at the No. 3 flight before
Katy Graydon and
Lydia Vlachou followed suit at No. 2 doubles.
Ming Deewajee and
Dani Ramos secured the doubles sweep with a 6-1 triumph against Leandra Guldimann and Maria Del Mar Ojeda.
Lina Teleshun stepped into the singles lineup, carrying the momentum for the Hawks with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 slot against Bega Gotor.
Vlachou posted a 6-1, 6-1 win against Ojeda as IUP pushed its lead to 3-0. Dewajee clinched the victory for the Hawks at the No. 1 flight behind a 6-0, 6-3 victory. Graydon continued rising up the program wins list with a 6-2, 6-2 triumoh at No. 2 singles.
Ramos locked down a 6-1, 6-2 win against Lilli Schreiber in her singles match in the No. 3 flight.
Alexis Cramer secured the shutout for IUP with a 6-3, 6-1 win.
