INDIANA, Pa. – Making a second consecutive appearance in the NCAA National Championships, the IUP men's golf team is set to begin action on Tuesday, May 21 at the Orange County National Golf Club in Winter Garden, Florida.
IUP earned an automatic bid to the national championships as one of the top five teams at the 2024 NCAA DII Atlantic/East Regional. The Hawks held off a big group of teams for a fourth-place finish.
The Crimson Hawks will complete a practice round on Monday before beginning stroke play on Tuesday. In a group with Grand Valley State and West Florida, IUP tees off at 7:30 a.m.

NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS AT A GALNCE
>> At the finals, all 20 teams and eight individuals will complete 54 holes of stroke play. Following 54 holes of stroke play, an individual champion will be declared along with finishers 2-10 based on cumulative total score and any applicable tiebreakers.
>> The top eight teams after 54 holes of play will be placed into a bracket and seeded based on 54-hole scores.
>> The pairings for the quarterfinals will be Seed #1 versus Seed #8, Seed #2 versus Seed #7, Seed #3 versus Seed #6 and Seed #4 versus Seed #5, competing in head-to-head medal play (stroke play over 18 holes and low score wins).

>> IUP is making its 35th all-time appearance in the NCAA National Tournament, 34 times as a team and once with an individual.
>> IUP boasts one NCAA Match Play appearance, coming in 2014.
>> The Crimson Hawks had two GCAA PING DII All-Region honorees this season in Fedor and Swinnerton. It marked the fourth all-region honor for Fedor and second for Swinnerton in as many seasons.
>> IUP will have two student-athletes playing at nationals for the first time in Gerue and Vinge. Gerue was with the team as an alternate last season, while Vinge is set to compete in his first collegiate season.
>> The Crimson Hawks were 17th overall in last year's NCAA nationals field.
>> Salazar has an outstanding final two rounds at the NCAA DII Atlantic/East Regionals, finishing the event tied for sixth overall.
>> Gerue has taken his play up a notch over the last several tournaments for IUP, posting a pair of top-10 individual finishes at The Trojan (T9th) and at the UPJ Bedford Springs Invitational (T8th).
>> Fedor posted consecutive top-five individual finishes in the spring portion of the schedule, coming at the Cecil C. Spadafora IUP Invitational (T4th) and the UPJ Bedford Springs Invitational (T3rd). Swinnerton has followed suit, adding a pair of top-five individual finishes in the same events.
