ERIE, Pa. -- The Crimson Hawks (10-5, 0-2 PSAC) were defeated by Gannon (8-5, 1-0) this Friday night in a 3-0 shutout (17-25, 20-25, 21-25).
The Hawks started strong with a three-point lead, but Gannon rallied to take control of the set. Despite a late push in the first set, the Hawks could not regain the lead allowing Gannon to take the first set.
IUP started the second set with a 5-2 lead, but soon lost it, managing to tie the score four more times, the last at 16-16.
In the third set,
Simay Memisoglu contributed four points in a row for the Hawks during a competitive back-and-forth with the Knights, points starting at 8-8 to 11-10. Gannon began to pull ahead, capitalizing on IUP's errors. Unfortunately, after trailing 21-23, the Hawks couldn't catch up, and Gannon closed the match with a 25-21 win.
Memisoglu led the floor with 12 kills and added one block.
Jessica Neiman contributed six kills, while
Rylee Brown,
Peyton Belcher, and
Nyla Birch each chipped in with three.
