NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- Unable to achieve an early lead, IUP (10-6, 0-2 PSAC) falls 3-1 to Walsh (7-5, 2-1 MAC) Monday evening at Alumni Arena. Set scores were 19-25, 19-25, 25-23, 20-25.
IUP struggled defensively throughout the match, managing only three blocks, which put pressure on their overall performance.
In the first two sets, IUP held steady but allowed Walsh to gain momentum and take the lead. In the third set, IUP found their rhythm and tied the score at 13-13. They used eight kills to power through securing the third set 25-23.
The fourth set began as a back-and-forth but Walsh was quick to go on a five-point run, IUP responded with their own five-point streak to tie the score at 10. Walsh got ahead with a 7-2 run, making IUP fight for it. Unfortunately, IUP was unable to recover and dropped the final set 20-25, concluding the game.
Standout from today's match was
Olivia Heidel who posted 46 assists today, making that her career high for a single game.
Nyla Birch recorded 15 kills,
Simay Memisoglu added 13,
Peyton Belcher contributed 10, and both
Rylee Brown and
Charlotte Potvin chipped in with seven.
