INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP men's golf program opens play at the 2025 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Golf Championships on Friday, October 17. The three-round championship event runs October 17-19 at Iron Valley Golf Club.

IUP is seeking its first conference championship since the 2022-23 season. The Crimson Hawks have claimed six of the last nine conference championships and 12 overall since the fall of 2007.

The Crimson Hawks are among the most consistent programs in the region with a record 32 conference championships and 29 consecutive regional championship qualifications (1997-2025). This includes 28 straight regional appearances since 1997.

IUP NOTES
» IUP has two runner-up team finishes in five events this fall (Wheeling Invitational, Kyle Ryman Memorial).
» Play consists of 18 holes each day from October 17-19, including a practice round for teams before the event begins. Each round consists of five players from all teams, with the lowest four scores from each school factoring into team scoring.
» The PSAC Championship medalist is an automatic selection to the all-conference first team, announced in the spring.
» The Crimson Hawks are looking to rebound from a disappointing final round at Tiffin's Kyle Ryman Memorial earlier this month. IUP was nearly flawless on the opening day of the event, surging to an 11-shot lead after 36 holes before eventually settling for second place.
» IUP has won 12 of the last 18 PSAC titles since the fall of 2007. The Crimson Hawks captured six straight championships from 2007-12, two more in 2016 and 2017, along with four titles from 2019-22.
» Alex Swinnerton, Guillermo Salazar and John Olsen hope to bookend their collegiate careers with conference championships. The trio all factored into IUP's fourth consecutive conference crown at the time in the fall of 2022 as Salazar claimed medalist honors.
» The Hawks' 32 conference championships are far and away the most in the league. Only Slippery Rock (14), which no longer sponsors a men's golf program, has more than 10 conference titles.
» Swinnerton has played 109 total rounds during his IUP tenure. His 73.23 career average is on pace for the lowest in program history since the record was kept in 2007. He's posted 21 top-10 individual finishes at IUP and 38 rounds of par or better since 2022-23.
» Salazar has recorded top-10 finishes in two of his three events this fall, most recently tying for seventh with a one-under tally at the Kyle Ryman Memorial (October 6-7, 2025).
» Ben De Castro was IUP's top finisher at the 2024 PSAC Championships, carding a 54-hole total of +5 last year.
» Zaiden Dennis and Trevor Todd are each slotted to make their debut appearance at the PSAC Men's Golf Championships this week.
» Dennis carded his first collegiate top-five finish earlier this month at Tiffin.
» Todd is continuing to contribute solid rounds this fall for IUP, including consecutive second round scores of 70 in his last two events.
» Seventh-year head coach Dan Braun has been at the helm for four PSAC Championships (fall 2019, spring 2021, fall 2021, fall 2022).
